Call of Duty 2026 will reportedly be Modern Warfare 4, targeting an October release — at least according to leaker TheGhostOfHope, who has a documented track record on CoD leaks and is the primary source for what we currently know about the game.
Infinity Ward has not confirmed the title. Activision has not officially announced anything. What exists right now is a cluster of leaks that are consistent with each other and with Activision’s historical release pattern, combined with some pointed non-denials from the developer.
What TheGhostOfHope Claims
The leaker’s title for the 2026 installment is Modern Warfare 4 — with South Korea and North Korea set to play a prominent role in the campaign.
According to TheGhostOfHope, the story continues directly from Modern Warfare III‘s ending: Vladimir Makarov and his Konni Group are attempting to trigger World War 3 through a series of false flags. Task Force 141, the SAS, and the Republic of Korea form the three playable factions working to stop them. Captain Price returns. Makarov is described as “seemingly unkillable.”
The game is said to lean mostly modern in its weapons and technology, with some near-future elements. A Warzone integration is expected, as is standard for the series.
Platform Availability
TheGhostOfHope also claims Modern Warfare 4 will not release on PS4 or Xbox One, ending support for the previous console generation entirely. This aligns with where the series has been heading and with the hardware reality — both consoles are now over 12 years old.
More relevant for Southeast Asian players: the leaker says Nintendo Switch 2 “will be involved at some point,” consistent with Microsoft’s previously stated commitment to bring 10 years of Call of Duty titles to Nintendo hardware following the Activision acquisition.
Infinity Ward’s Non-Denial
Activision and Infinity Ward haven’t confirmed the game, but Infinity Ward’s handling of the leaked information has been telling. When a separate rumour claimed the 2026 game’s multiplayer was a near-direct copy of Modern Warfare 2 (2022), Infinity Ward responded on social media with: “Don’t believe everything you read on the internet” — a message that addressed the multiplayer rumour specifically while saying nothing about the broader October release claim.
Leaker BobNetworkUK separately claimed the project hit a development standstill, with Infinity Ward reportedly unhappy with both the narrative and mechanics, and Activision applying pressure on the studio. That claim has not been substantiated.
The Signal in the Steam Sale
The clearest non-verbal signal: in late March 2026, Infinity Ward ran a 90% discount on Modern Warfare (2019) on Steam — well above the 50-60% maximum CoD titles typically hit on sale. The studio also activated a double XP weekend for the same game, more than six years after its original launch. This kind of promotional activity for a six-year-old entry typically precedes a sequel announcement or a major content crossover.
An official reveal is expected at Microsoft’s summer showcase in June 2026. That timing would put an October launch in line with pre-order and marketing windows Activision has used for the last several entries.
What to Expect for SEA Players
If the Switch 2 commitment holds, Southeast Asian players on Nintendo hardware would gain access to the series for the first time in years. PC players in the region — particularly those currently on Warzone and Modern Warfare III — should plan for the standard integration, where the new title absorbs the live-service infrastructure.
Platform pricing in Malaysia has not been announced. Regional Steam pricing for previous CoD entries has typically been under RM200 at launch. Storefront pricing varies.
Nothing is confirmed. TheGhostOfHope’s leaks have been accurate on CoD before. Treat this as a well-sourced rumour until Infinity Ward speaks officially.
