Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 Is Live — Everything That’s Changed

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 went live on 19 March 2026, and Epic Games has rolled out the largest mid-chapter update since the end of Chapter 5. A new map zone, a redesigned battle pass structure, and the removal of three weapons that defined Season 1 meta are the headline changes. There is also a new ranked modifier system that has divided the community before most players have had a chance to try it.

Here’s what actually changed, and what it means if you’re playing in SEA.

What’s New in the Chapter 7 Season 2 Map

The island’s northeastern quadrant has been substantially reworked. The Frostgate POI from Season 1 has been replaced by Neon Sprawl — a dense urban zone with vertical layering that rewards building-literate players over open-field snipers. Epic’s design team described it as “designed for the close-range game.”

Landing population at Neon Sprawl in the early days of a new season is always high. If you play in SEA servers, expect heavy contention there for the first two weeks as the community learns the rotations.

Elsewhere on the map: the Bridge Corridor connecting the eastern coast to the central biome has been widened, which changes the midgame rotation meta significantly. Late-game circles pulling east are now less of a death sentence.

New POIs at a Glance

  • Neon Sprawl (northeast) — replaces Frostgate, indoor focus
  • Sunken Relay (southwest coast) — new mid-tier loot POI, flooded underground section
  • Apex Ridge — renamed from Highpoint Peak, loot density increased

Battle Pass: What’s Changed

The Chapter 7 Season 2 battle pass runs 9 weeks and has moved to a branching unlock structure. Instead of a single linear track, players choose the order they unlock cosmetics through a branching path system — 60 items total, though the final unlock thresholds remain the same 100 levels as before.

The headline skin is Riven, a collaboration character from a property Epic hasn’t officially announced yet. In the trailer she uses a weapon not currently in the game, and the community has already started speculating about a mid-season item introduction.

Battle pass pricing is unchanged: 950 V-Bucks for the standard pass. In Malaysia that’s approximately RM45 for 1,000 V-Bucks through the official Fortnite store.

Returning Items This Season

Chapter 7 Season 2 has brought back the Scoped Assault Rifle — vaulted since Chapter 5 Season 3 — and the original Pump Shotgun with adjusted damage values (110 max body, up from 100). Both were crowd-requested returns.

Three Weapons Removed

The Thermal SMG, the Graviton Cannon, and the Hover Turret are all vaulted as of Season 2 launch. This removes a significant portion of the anti-vehicle meta from Season 1. If your ranked game plan was built around the Graviton Cannon vehicle denial strategy, you need a new strategy.

Ranked Changes: The Modifier System

This is the most contested change in the patch. Season 2 introduces ranked modifiers — passive buffs that activate at Champion rank and above. The modifiers rotate weekly and include things like increased structure damage at Storm Phase 6, reduced fall damage in the top 25, and augmented placement points for eliminations in final circles.

The problem: the modifier descriptions in the UI are unintuitive, and several players have reported activating modifiers they didn’t intend to. Epic has acknowledged the clarity issue and said a UI update is in the works.

For SEA ranked players specifically, the modifier system creates unequal conditions across the weekly cycle. If your play schedule only lines up with two or three sessions per week, which modifier week you land on is partly luck.

What to Focus On First

If you’re returning for a new season or just loading in for the first time today: drop Sunken Relay for a quieter first session, work through the battle pass on the nodes that unlock Legacy cosmetics first (they carry over to Chapter 8), and hold off on Ranked until the modifier UI patch lands — likely within the first two weeks based on Epic’s communication timeline.

Chapter 7 Season 2 is live now on all platforms including Android and iOS. No sign-in changes required if you’re already on a Chapter 7 account.
