Minecraft Dungeons II Officially Revealed — Launching Fall 2026
Mojang Studios has officially revealed Minecraft Dungeons II, the sequel to its 2020 dungeon crawler spin-off, and confirmed it is releasing in Fall 2026 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC.
The announcement came during the Minecraft Live 2026 broadcast. The original Minecraft Dungeons (Mojang Studios, 2020) reached over 25 million players by 2022 (Mojang/Microsoft figures).
Minecraft Dungeons II: What Has Been Revealed
Mojang describes Minecraft Dungeons II as an “entirely new action RPG” in the Minecraft universe. Confirmed platforms are Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC. The release window is Fall 2026. No pricing has been confirmed at this stage.
An official announcement trailer was released during Minecraft Live 2026. Gameplay details beyond the announcement trailer have not been fully published.
What Made the Original Minecraft Dungeons Distinctive
Minecraft Dungeons was a top-down action RPG set in the Minecraft universe. It used the IP’s visual style — the blocky aesthetic, the mob roster — but replaced sandbox building with an action loop featuring loot drops, enchantments, and procedurally modified dungeon layouts. The game supported four-player online and couch co-op, its primary value proposition for families and younger players on Switch and console.
Minecraft Dungeons II inherits that foundation as a sequel. Mojang confirms it is an “entirely new” entry rather than an expansion.
Pricing: Not Yet Confirmed
No pricing for Minecraft Dungeons II has been announced. The original launched at a standard paid price point. If MYR pricing becomes available via the Nintendo eShop MY or Steam Malaysia storefronts, GamesHarbour will update this article.
What This Means for Minecraft Fans
The Minecraft brand carries two major releases in 2026: the core sandbox game with its Tiny Takeover and Chaos Cubed update cycle, and now Dungeons II as a paid spin-off arriving Fall 2026.
For players who engaged with the original Dungeons — particularly on Nintendo Switch, which was one of the stronger platforms for that title in Southeast Asia — the sequel’s same-day Switch and Switch 2 availability is significant.
The dungeon crawler genre has grown more competitive since 2020. Hades II (Supergiant Games, 2024) and Diablo IV (Blizzard Entertainment, 2023) have raised expectations for depth and replayability. Minecraft Dungeons II will need to demonstrate it has grown beyond the relatively straightforward loop of its predecessor.
Switch and Switch 2: Both Confirmed
Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 are both confirmed platforms. For SEA players, this is the most relevant detail — Switch is the dominant console platform in much of Southeast Asia, and Switch 2 compatibility expands the audience.
What Comes Next
Mojang is expected to follow the Minecraft Live reveal with a deeper showcase — including gameplay footage and more details on the action RPG loop. Given the Fall 2026 window, a more detailed reveal is likely at a major gaming event in mid-2026.
