Epic Games has made Fortnite: Save the World free for all players. The mode is available free on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
What Changed
Save the World is a co-op survival mode. There are three reward tiers:
- 3 Jess quests to get the Super Shredder weapon in Battle Royale
- 12 Jess quests to unlock the Super Shredder schematic for Save the World
- 350,000 XP in Save the World to earn the free Jess skin
Players on Nintendo Switch 2 can access Save the World. Existing STW owners get a loyalty reward on April 16 including Hero, Weapon, and Trap Superchargers, five Survivor Superchargers, a Hero Recruitment Voucher, a Weapon Research Voucher, and 10,000 Gold.
Twitch Drops run April 16 at 9 AM ET through April 20 at 11:59 PM ET.
What Is Fortnite: Save the World?
Save the World is the original Fortnite that launched in July 2017. Players cooperate to defend objectives from husks across procedurally generated maps.
Why This Matters
For the SEA Fortnite community, which skews free-to-play and mobile, the pricing barrier was always friction. That friction is now gone. The Jess crossover runs through June 5, 2026.
