Crimson Desert Day One Patch Notes: PC Gets Full Update, Consoles Get Partial Fix

Pearl Abyss released Crimson Desert patch 1.00.02 on 20 March 2026 — the day-one update that ships in full on PC via Steam but arrives in two stages on PlayStation 5. Xbox Series X|S, Epic Games Store, and Mac App Store versions are receiving the patch at a later time. PC players are on the most complete build available right now; console players are getting a staggered rollout, with a subset of fixes withheld pending platform certification from Sony and Microsoft.

If you are on PC, patch 1.00.02 is already live. If you are on PS5, patch 1.00.01 is available now — the remaining 1.00.02 content will follow separately.

What Patch 1.00.02 Changes: Full Category Breakdown

Patch 1.00.02 covers eight categories. The complete official notes are published on the Crimson Desert patch notes page. Here is what each category changes, with console-deferred items marked.

  • Tutorial quest added at the start of Chapter 3 to explain Abyss Gears
  • Fixed an issue where certain quests would not progress properly

Content

  • Improved usability for Housing mode and other systems
  • Fixed content that was not functioning as intended
  • Adjusted QTE difficulty when captured by enemies — difficulty now increases gradually based on capture count
  • Removed the bear’s instant-kill damage; overall bear damage adjusted downward
  • Fixed a display error where Greymane comrade count appeared lower than actual ownership
  • Cutscene fast-forward speed increased for recently viewed scenes (PS5: deferred to patch 1.00.02)

Skills

  • Improved the “Watch and Learn” skill-learning feature
  • Skills menu now separates names and descriptions by weapon type
  • Added a finishing blow to Kliff’s Flurry of Blows
  • Added a follow-up skill to Damiane’s greatsword stab and uppercut
  • Added a follow-up attack to Oongka’s dual-wield stab

Boss Fights

  • Tenebrum (Chapter 4) — puzzle section no longer resets on death during the boss fight (PS5: deferred to patch 1.00.02)
  • Adjusted combat balance for several bosses, including Reed Devil
  • Fixed an issue where bosses could attack players in the middle of the revive animation
  • Fixed abnormal movement and fight progression for certain bosses
  • Improved combat behavior and animation for Walker-type monsters

NPC and Dialogue

  • Animations, movements, lip-sync, visual clipping, visual effects, and voice acting improved for NPCs and animals
  • Dialogue, voice, and reactions improved for some NPCs
  • Fixed a mismatch between voice dialogue and subtitles when greeting NPCs
  • Fixed abnormal interaction bugs with some NPCs and animals

Localization

  • Fixed various localization errors and improved translation quality across all languages

UI

  • Fixed UI issues including text display, functionality, and sound effects

Performance

  • Performance and stability optimizations across PC and console; crash issues addressed

PC players receive all items above. PS5 players receive all items except those marked (deferred to 1.00.02). Xbox Series X|S, Epic, and Mac players are receiving the patch at a later date.

PC-Specific Fix: VRAM and CPU Performance

The game’s global Steam launch went live simultaneously with patch 1.00.02. Key PC-specific improvements in the performance category include:

  • Frame rate stability — Hitching and stuttering at high CPU loads corrected, particularly for systems running Intel 13th and 14th-generation processors
  • VRAM management — Reduced VRAM overflow incidents on 8GB graphics cards running the Ultra texture preset, which was causing crash-to-desktop on affected configurations
  • Combat hitbox precision — Hitbox accuracy corrected on several boss encounter phases that behaved inconsistently during the pre-launch review period
  • Audio sync — Cutscene audio desync corrected in a specific sequence in Act 2 of the campaign

The VRAM fix is particularly relevant for mid-range configurations common in the SEA market. The RTX 3060, RX 6600, and RTX 4060 all use 8GB VRAM and were the configurations most affected before this patch.

Console Status: Partial Patch, Follow-Up Incoming

PS5 players received patch 1.00.01 at launch. Patch 1.00.02 became available on PlayStation and Epic Games Store starting 2026/3/20 at 01:00 UTC, according to Pearl Abyss. Xbox, Mac App Store, and the remaining Epic Games Store rollout are at a later date.

The hitbox and audio corrections are included in 1.00.02. The framerate and crash fixes included in the initial 1.00.01 rollout address the most disruptive stability issues, so the game is playable — but players who have not yet received 1.00.02 will encounter the combat hitbox inconsistencies that PC players have corrected at launch.

Pearl Abyss published the platform split explicitly at launch — identifying which fixes were deferred and providing a UTC timestamp for the PS5 1.00.02 rollout. IGN noted that this level of patch transparency is uncommon for major releases.

Known Issues at Launch (Post-Patch 1.00.02)

Pearl Abyss has published the following bugs as known and unresolved after the day-one patch:

  • In certain situations, the Abyss can be seen from the world below, causing slight frame rate drops
  • During the “Deferred Advance” quest: retrying or abandoning the Ultimate Weapon fight when Blackstar’s health is depleted prevents Blackstar’s health from fully recovering
  • Attempting to steal fruit at the back of a stall causes the character to become unresponsive to controls
  • When receiving damage while holding a tree, the character can become stuck
  • During the Gregor, the Halberd of Carnage boss fight: if surrounding objects are destroyed simultaneously with the character dying, the character cannot revive and progress is blocked
  • Under certain conditions, applied settings are not saved after restoring settings
  • While progressing through some quests, the next objective is not automatically tracked
  • When using FSR4 upscaling, an issue in rainy environments causes rain to disappear or the screen to become blurry or distorted

Monitor the official Crimson Desert known issues page for updates as Pearl Abyss resolves these.

When to Expect the Console Follow-Up

PS5 players received patch 1.00.02 starting 01:00 UTC on 20 March 2026. Xbox Series X|S, Epic Games Store, and Mac App Store versions do not have a confirmed date. Based on standard platform certification timelines, additional patches typically take five to seven business days. Keep auto-updates enabled and check the official Pearl Abyss patch notes page for confirmation when each platform’s update goes live.
